News: OLLIE Releases Poignant New Single ‘Guardian Angel’

Tallinn-based alt-rock artist and producer OLLIE (Oliver Mazurtšak) has released what may be his most emotionally charged single yet, Guardian Angel—a sweeping ballad that captures the raw complexity of grief while offering a glimmer of hope. Known for blending genres with a fearless honesty, OLLIE fuses soft rock, pop-rock, and alt-country into a cinematic anthem that feels both deeply personal and universally relatable.

The release follows a breakthrough period for the rising Estonian star, who has twice finished runner-up in Estonia’s Eurovision pre-selections with Venom (2023) and My Friend (2024). Now, with Guardian Angel, OLLIE continues to carve out a reputation as one of the country’s most compelling storytellers in music—an artist unafraid to channel vulnerability into power.

At the heart of the song lies a deeply personal story.

“I lost my grandfather in December,” OLLIE shares. “I kept feeling his presence. It wasn’t something I could explain, just this guiding feeling. That idea—that someone might still be watching over us even after they’re gone—inspired the whole track.”

Written in a single sitting, the song emerged during a moment of reflection and grief. Its haunting vocal intro opens the door to a production that swells with emotion—acoustic intimacy unfolding into soaring crescendos. Bandmates Karl (drums) and Charles (keys) helped bring the arrangement to life, layering warmth and texture into a track that feels expansive yet deeply human.

In true OLLIE fashion, Guardian Angel balances polished production with raw authenticity. The song carries echoes of 2000s post-grunge and nu-metal—hallmarks of OLLIE’s sound—but here they’re softened and reframed, channeled into a ballad that prioritizes emotional resonance over aggression.

“I don’t want to dictate how someone should feel,” OLLIE explains. “What you feel is right. But for me, this song is about finding the light in dark places. About focusing on the small, beautiful things—even when everything feels like it’s falling apart.”
