News: Punk Provocateurs Dead Kennedys Announce First Aus/NZ Tour in Seven Years

Still snarling after all these years, Dead Kennedys are set to tear through Australia and New Zealand this September, marking their first return to the southern hemisphere in seven years. The punk icons will roll out their arsenal of politically loaded anthems and hard-edged satire in a tour that promises zero compromise and maximum volume.

Formed in the boiling punk crucible of late-‘70s San Francisco, Dead Kennedys made their name with savage wit, breakneck riffs, and a ferocious commitment to sticking it to the man. Four decades on, that fire still burns—fans can expect a set stacked with incendiary classics like “Holiday in Cambodia,” “California Über Alles,” and “Kill the Poor,” along with a few deep cuts for the diehards.

Led by original members East Bay Ray (guitar) and Klaus Flouride (bass), the band now features vocalist Ron “Skip” Greer, who has held the mic since 2008, and Steve Wilson on drums following the tragic loss of D.H. Peligro in 2022.

Known for shows that blur the line between gig and riot, the upcoming tour is less a nostalgic victory lap and more a necessary scream into the void. For a band that’s spent 40-plus years dissecting everything from American imperialism to yuppie hypocrisy, there’s still no shortage of targets.

AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND TOUR DATES:
Tues, Sept 16: Powerstation, Auckland
Wed, Sept 17: Meow Nui, Wellington
Fri, Sept 19: Northcote Theatre, Melbourne
Sat, Sept 20: Tivoli, Brisbane
Wed, Sept 24: Astor Theatre, Perth
Fri, Sept 26: The Gov, Adelaide
Sat, Sept 27: Metro Theatre, Sydney
