News: Ryan Oakes teams up with Loveless for Alt/Hip-Hop anthem ‘Heavyweight’

Alt rockers Ryan Oakes and Loveless have teamed up for a hard-hitting new single & music video “HEAVYWEIGHT,” available to stream now on all DSPs worldwide via Position Music. Oakes and Lovelss wrote “HEAVYWEIGHT” to be a one-stop-shop for motivation whenever life gets hard.

“‘HEAVYWEIGHT’ is a metaphorical punch in the face by motivation itself,” says Ryan on the song. “Me and Loveless linked in the studio with one goal in mind, and that was to make one of the hardest hitting, motivational songs of the year. “Heavyweight” combines elements of alternative hip hop on the verses and an absolute smash rock/pop punk hook that do exactly what they were designed for. A wake up call to get out there and make your dreams reality.”

“It has been so cool working with Ryan and Jayden on this track, I loved stepping outside of my comfort zone and creating something more aggressive to really bring HEAVYWEIGHT to life,” says Julian Comeau of Loveless.

With over 300 million total streams, 1 million+ monthly Spotify listeners, and 20 million+ song impressions on TikTok to date, Oakes has cemented himself in the alternative and rap music zeitgeist through his distinct brand of left-of-center punk and biting alt/hip hop.

“HEAVYWEIGHT” is Ryan’s first collaboration with Loveless, who boast 2 million TikTok followers, 1.9 million Spotify monthly listeners, over 200,000 YouTube subscribers, and over 300,000 followers on Instagram.

Oakes has been played on BBC Radio One and Sirius XM, and has been a mainstay on popular editorial playlists such as Spotify’s tear drop, All New Rock, All New Punk, Pop Punk’s Not Dead, The Scene, New Noise, and more. Throughout his prolific career, Oakes has collaborated with the likes of State Champs, MOD SUN, Futuristic, Layto, & more.

Last month, Position Music officially announced their signing of Ryan to an exclusive worldwide record and publishing deal. Oakes joins a Position Music label roster that includes Kid Bloom, Blackway, Layto, Welshly Arms, Dead Posey, 2WEI and many more.

Ryan plans to continue to release a string of singles as he builds into his first full-length album releasing in May of 2023.
