London’s Mila Sidhu releases the new single ‘One Night’, a sultry fusion of alt-pop and R&B that draws on her Indian heritage while embracing a bold new sense of confidence.
Confident, sensual and rhythmically charged, ‘One Night’ captures the electricity of walking into a room knowing every eye could be on you. Rather than seeking somebody else’s attention, Mila turns the dynamic on its head, taking on the role of the person who gets to choose.
“‘One Night’ is about walking into a room being a beautiful girl and knowing you can have anyone you want in that room,” Mila explains.
That unapologetic confidence is woven throughout the track, with seductive vocals and crisp production creating a sound that feels equally at home on a late-night dancefloor or in the anticipation-filled moments before stepping out. Sitting between pop and alternative R&B, ‘One Night’ explores desire without hesitation, framing femininity as instinctive, self-defined and powerful.
Created with producer Siloe, the track began with Mila’s desire to bring an Indian influence into the production. She went on to develop the melodies and shape the song around her voice, later deepening its cultural connection while in India. There, she worked with an Indian singer to explore traditional musical scales before bringing that knowledge back into the track.
The result feels particularly natural for an artist whose identity has been shaped by moving between cultures. Half Indian and half white, Mila grew up across different countries and never lived anywhere for more than seven years. Rather than defining home through a single place, she has developed her own sense of belonging through music, drawing from the different environments and influences that have shaped her.
A Berklee alum, Mila’s sound brings together alternative R&B, jazz, hip-hop and darker shades of pop, with influences ranging from Amy Winehouse and Lauryn Hill to Billie Eilish and Norah Jones. Her songwriting is instinctive and emotionally driven, turning experiences of love, lust, heartbreak, femininity and self-discovery into intimate, cinematic moments.
On ‘One Night’, though, vulnerability takes a back seat. The uncertainty and emotional complexity that often sit at the centre of Mila’s songwriting are replaced by a more assured sensuality. The song revels in the feeling of being desired, while keeping the power firmly in the hands of the person being pursued.
Dark, feminine, glamorous and cinematic, Sidhu’s aesthetic balances sensuality with independence, softness with strength, and her Indian heritage with the Western and global influences that have informed her artistic identity.
