Irish 4-piece The Academic are proud to share ‘My Very Best’, the final single to be lifted from their forthcoming album and EMI debut Sitting Pretty.

On an album which packs storming stadium-ready choruses at every turn, ‘My Very Best’ pushes The Academic’s talent for refinement to the fore; with the percussive snap of 80s pop and the band’s eye for effervescent melodies providing the perfect vehicle for the subtleties of Craig Fitzgerald’s composed delivery.

“My Very Best is a song about coming up short. We wanted to write something that could encapsulate the heavy heartedness and cruelty of feeling like you can’t emotionally provide a relationship with what it needs to survive.” The band continue, “The song explores the inner turmoil and feelings of inadequacy this realisation can bring.”

Irish based concert photographer, maybe! ever so slightly addicted to gigs. Listens mostly to alternative / goth / folk punk / punk / ska. I blame the 80s.
