News: The Angels to close out 50 years of ‘Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again’

The Angels are bringing their 50th anniversary celebration of ‘Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again’ to a fitting conclusion, with a final show at Sydney’s iconic Selina’s on February 20, 2027.

They won’t be doing it alone. Boom Crash Opera and Eurogliders join the bill, with Disgraceland opening proceedings, turning the night into a hefty cross-section of Australian rock history.

For The Angels, the show closes out a year celebrating a song that long ago escaped the confines of the record itself. ‘Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again’ has become one of Australian rock’s great communal rituals, with that famous audience response now almost as inseparable from the song as the chorus.

The rest of the catalogue isn’t exactly short of ammunition either. ‘Take A Long Line’, ‘No Secrets’, ‘Shadow Boxer’, ‘Marseilles’ and ‘Dogs Are Talking’ sit alongside Boom Crash Opera staples including ‘Onion Skin’ and ‘Dancing In The Storm’, while Eurogliders bring ‘Heaven (Must Be There)’, ‘We Will Together’ and more.

And Selina’s feels like exactly the right place to finish it. The Coogee venue has spent more than five decades hosting Australian music, and on February 20 three bands with plenty of history of their own will pile into the room for one final celebration of a song that refuses to quietly grow old.
