News: The Cribs Return To Australia For First National Tour In Eight Years

Eight years after their last Australian tour, The Cribs are finally heading back Down Under. The Wakefield trio will return this October in support of their newly announced ninth album, Selling A Vibe, bringing one of British indie rock’s most enduring cult success stories back to Australian stages.

Across more than two decades, Gary, Ryan and Ross Jarman have built a career that has consistently resisted convention. While early comparisons to contemporaries such as The Libertines briefly framed their rise in the early 2000s, The Cribs quickly forged their own identity through ragged hooks, combustible live performances and an unwavering commitment to doing things on their own terms. That fiercely independent spirit earned them the Spirit of Independence Award at the Q Awards before collecting the Outstanding Contribution to Music honour at the NME Awards, cementing their place as one of Britain’s defining indie bands.

Selling A Vibe finds the brothers emerging from one of the most challenging periods of their career. Separated across Wakefield, New York and Portland during the pandemic, the band were unable to properly tour their acclaimed 2020 album Night Network, leaving them to navigate distance, uncertainty and the realities of life apart. Rather than splintering the group, those years became the foundation of a record centred on resilience, family and the bond that has always driven The Cribs. Its emotional centrepiece, Brothers Won’t Break, serves as both a declaration of intent and the defining statement of this latest chapter.

Musically, the album sees The Cribs experimenting with more contemporary pop production while retaining the wiry guitars, sharp melodies and restless energy that have made them one of the UK’s most beloved cult bands. It is a balancing act that reflects a group still willing to evolve without abandoning the raw immediacy that has defined them since 2001.
