The Lazy Eyes continue the countdown to their eagerly awaited second album Cheesy Love Songs with the release of Always In The Back Of My Mind, a track that broadens the band’s sonic palette while reaffirming why they remain one of Australia’s most exciting psychedelic rock exports.

Following the softer, more romantic tone of the album’s previous singles, Always In The Back Of My Mind shifts gears. Sludgy guitars, swirling reverb and a vintage Farfisa Bravo organ propel the song forward, balancing introspective songwriting with the band’s trademark psychedelic textures. It is another reminder that The Lazy Eyes are just as comfortable embracing classic guitar rock as they are drifting into expansive, kaleidoscopic soundscapes.
The single offers another glimpse of Cheesy Love Songs, due for release on August 21. Since bursting onto the scene with their acclaimed early EPs, The Lazy Eyes have enjoyed a remarkable rise. Their 2022 debut SongBook established them as one of Australia’s brightest young guitar bands, while international support from artists including Elton John and endorsements from BBC Radio 6 Music and triple j helped propel them onto the global stage.
That momentum has continued on the road. Before reaching the age of 25, the band had already shared stages with Wet Leg, Djo and The Strokes, appeared at Laneway Festival, SXSW, All Points East and Splendour in the Grass, and toured extensively throughout Australia, New Zealand, North America and Europe. Along the way, they have steadily refined a sound that sits comfortably between classic psychedelia, garage rock and melodic indie.
