‘More Than Friends’ takes a stripped-back and sentimental approach, exploring the emotional aftermath of love lost. ‘Cheap Wine and Sad Melodies’ begins in similarly reflective territory, but gradually gives way to Trosso’s signature sound, transformed into a bright, summery indie-rock anthem. Born in Brazil and now based in London, the singer-songwriter and performer has been active since 2003, establishing deep roots in the punk, ska and reggae scenes before relocating to the UK in 2015 to develop his sound further.
Since then, Trosso has built an international audience, with his music accumulating millions of streams and his work reaching beyond the confines of the independent music scene. In 2023, he landed four UK chart spots with London-based band Popes of Chillitown, while his work with Brazil-based band Abraskadabra has taken him to major festivals across four continents. The band has also secured label deals in both the US and Brazil.
Trosso’s songwriting has extended into film, television and advertising, while his compositions have also earned cuts with artists in Taiwan. Across these projects, his ability to move between punk, ska, reggae, indie rock and folk has become a defining part of his creative identity.
