Spiteful is the new track from London R&B singer Effie, and we’re delighted to premiere it right here on Backseat Mafia. Of the track, Effie told us it is ”Inspired by events around me and the turn of relationships I’ve seen, Spiteful was born out of observation. Spite is something we have all given out or been on the receiving end in different situations. People get caught in the cycle, trying to one up the other with the desire to hurt each other. I’ve been a witness to something so sweet turning in to something sour and I wanted to really get that across in a record I know a lot of people will relate you.”
Is smart, sassy R&B that showcases Effie’s incredible soul chops, as she prods and cajoles your emotions, her vocal soaring and twisting over smoky, stripped back beats, slivers of guitar and winding synths. It’s brilliant stuff.
