Berlin- based multi-disciplinary artist Carmel Michaeli aka KARMA SHE, is gearing up for the release of her debut album MY NAKED DEVOTION on May 8th, which includes a full UK release including cassette format via Martin Hossbach, and we are delighted to premiere her new video For MAKE ME KITTENS here in Backseat Mafia this morning.
Of the track and video KARMA SHE told us exclusively “MAKE ME KITTENS, was recorded and produced by KARMA SHE last spring, the lyrics help negotiate the tendency to confuse lust for love and question disappointments, false hopes and the mysteries of forming romantic connections in the contemporary dating era.The video depicts the artist cycling along Berlin’s canal on a gray autumn day with 5 helium balloons spelling KARMA braided to her hair, as a metaphor for the illusions and wishful bubbles we tend to carry with us. The video ends with the letting go of these ideas.”
The track is this bass heavy, delicious slice of electro-pop, KARMA SHE was-rapping over the top of it – questioning, demanding even exactly what she wants. Strewn around it are minimal beats, backing vocals and weird spacey synths the cascade all over it.
