Album Review: The Fratellis “Me And The Devil”

It’s been over two years since “We Need Medicine” but Glasgow’s favourite indie trio The Fratellis are back! They’ve got a brand new song “Me And The Devil”, an upcoming album “Eyes Wide, Tongue Tied” and have just announced a few live dates in the UK followed by a US tour in September. It is a very good time to be a Fratellis fan.

Latest release ‘Me And The Devil’ is the sound of The Fratellis growing up. Recorded in Los Angeles with the same producer that produced Costello Music (Tony Hoffer – who’s also worked with the likes of Depeche Mode and Belle & Sebastian) , “Me And The Devil” opens with a long sweeping piano that is followed by Jon Frattelli’s instantly recognisable vocals. It is so atmospheric, you can almost feel the California sunshine. This isn’t a mindless pop song (and was apparently inspired by Nick Tosche’s book of the same name.) but it is guaranteed to seep under your skin. Don’t take our word for it, check out the video below. If this is anything to go by, then we’re expecting great things for the album.

“Eyes Wide, Tongue Tied”. drops on Friday August 21st.

Fratellis Live dates
19th Aug – The Borderline, London
20th Aug – O2 Academy2, Birmingham
21st Aug – King Tuts, Glasgow
