If you haven’t checked out Ruby Fields before, now would be an especially good time. The Sydney-based artist has been building up to the release of her debut album for a while, with two singles from the record out in the wild already: last September’s ‘Pretty Grim‘ and April’s ‘R.E.G.O‘. The song she’s sharing today suggests Fields needs to be on your radar immediately.

The lead single proper from the album, ‘Song About a Boy’ is a cacophonous, emotional rollercoaster of a song with a flair for contrasting dynamics – those guitars crashing in around the minute mark! – and is, in her own words, “a song about your feelings being caught up in someone that’s not right for you,” and the mess of inner turmoil that can ensue as a result. Check out its cinematic video below, and stay tuned for the album: Been Doin’ It For a Bit arrives on Friday September 24th.
