Bishop Nehru, one of the most talented MC’s around, is back with a new self-written and produced album ‘Nehruvia: My Disregarded Thoughts’, out on May 8th and available for pre-order here.
Of the track, he says “EMPEROR was just a track that I was making specifically to have fun at lives shows,” adding: “I wanted to be able to have an energetic song everyone could just feel free to. When i was in the process of creating it the main thing I was thinking about after I finished the beat was ‘Wow this could be amazing if performed in a stadium’.
Extolling his own virtues largely, Nehru kills the cadences and rhymes with his usual flair and mixture of observation, swagger and humour. Underneath the beat splashes and sprawls underneath these slightly weird operatic sounding vocal cut ups. Check it out, here
