Deerhoof have announced their new album is to be released via Joyful Noise on May 29th, and from it the band have shared the title track. Future Teenage Cave Artists.
As they have for much of not all of their quarter of a century existence, Deerhoof take elements of rock and pop as we know it, and try and pick their own little bits out of it to make something that is wilfully ambitious and unexpected.
Future Teenage Cave Artists does exactly that as guitars and synths cross paths, instruments marry with vocals, things break down and are put back together, wonky melodies are stitched together, and what comes out is affecting and unusual and, frankly, quite lovely.
