Track: Ernie – Pink Headaches

Steph James

Ernie whose real name is Joe Ernest Allan has spent the last two years in the studio working on a dense collection of songs, and in recent months has been honing his live show, having supported Wunderhorse in London, as well as Sam Fender at his iconic home town stadium show. Having recently signed to Gravity Records, Ernie has shared his debut single ‘Pink Headaches’.

Regarding the track

“A few years ago I moved back in with my mam for a few months, and I was out on a run one day to shake off a hangover. I was literally running through the scenes of my childhood, recalling this huge batch of memories attached to every street, every park bench and every football pitch. Places that once felt like home to me now filled me with a weird mix of nostalgia, fondness, sadness, and anxiety. ‘Pink Headaches’ was my response to all these weird feelings and memories coming to the surface with every passing lamppost.

A hypnotic hit of electronic indie thats part breathing, part heartbeat as much as it is music with the way it captures you. What you don’t expect is Allan’s effortless vocals that sit as a rock to the gentle swirling maelstrom.
