Track: Floating Points – Bias (remixes) plus lockdown mix

Following on from last years much vaunted Crush album, which cemented his place in the champions league of electronic artists (yeah, I am missing football) Sam Shepherd aka Floating Points is back with a couple of alternate versions of one of the tracks of the album – Bias.

The Mayfield Depot mix is a nine minute marathon, this gives the track air to breathe, and Shepherd room to manoeuvre as he takes the track on hitherto uncharted terroir you. Based around and named after a performance at the Manchester venue, its based around a live recording made on the night so crowd noise bleeds into Shepherds edit, bringing an urgency and energy to the track.

The extended mix pulls the track along, allowing seeds to be sown and ideas time to grow and flower. The clever thing, such is the skill it never becomes a watch checker.

Like we all are in these unprecedented times, Shepherd has returned to the things he loves and trusts to create a new mix that passes seamlessly through soul, jazz and country while he has time on his hands.
