Track: Galaxians – Heartbreaker

Heartbreaker is the new track from Leeds-based disco-funk trio Galaxians, taken from their forthcoming second album ‘Chemcial Reactions’, out on 26th June.

Of the track, concerned with female empowerment, personal freedom, taking the likes of Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross, and – according to the bands frontwoman Emma Mason Even Prince and his delicious feminine energy”, before continuing “It’s particularly special to me as the lyrics personify female liberation, that we can dance to the rhythm of our own drum and become our own saviours. I literally feel free when I listen to that track and I want others to feel the same.”

Heartbreaker has this instantly appealing 80s feel about it, all gluey synths and a bubbling cauldron of a bassline. Over the top the band lay down the funk, with Mason’s soulful vocal liberally covered with vocal harmonies as it pulls you onto the dancefloor.

Irresistable.
