We’ve been following Garsa (the solo work of Martin Garside) for a while now on Backseat Mafia, celebrating a string of singles that have displayed a nuanced songwriting craft with low-fi delicate instrumentation and gorgeous melodies. Since we last heard from Garside, he has been signed to Golden Believers Records and has now announced the release of an EP entitled ‘The Unfairity’, due out on 2 April 2021, preceded by the release today of the single ‘White Rabbits’.
‘White Rabbits’ from the start displays a far more complex and layered approach – a mix of acoustic instruments and electronica with the trademark luscious melodies and golden thread of melancholia. Think of bands like The Lightning Seeds or from the madchester scene – strong indie sensibilities creating an epic pop song with a northern edge:
