Track: Jacob Fitzgerald Drops New Single ‘Shame On You’

Jacob Fitzgerald

Jacob Fitzgerald has released a new single ‘Shame On You’. The new track is a follow up to the previously-released ‘Muse‘, which we loved at Backseat Mafia-and we weren’t alone, that single garnered a lot of critical acclaim.

Love this! The start of the song made me think of The Black Keys – really punching me in the face with guitar and an amazing voice. Great stuff!” – ★★★★

Jess Perkins – Triple J

‘Shame On You’ was produced by Fitzgerald and long-time friend/collaborator Brent Quirk, with mastering by George Georgiadis (Gang of Youths, The Vanns, Tyne James-Organ) at Little Wing Sound.

The new track is a delectable slice of indie pop. Starting slowly with some subtle synths it builds to a gorgeous, guitar-chiming denouement. Fitzgerald has spoken about the subject matter of the song.

“‘Shame on You’ is a heartbreak song through and through, and is based around those few days following a breakup. It captures the regret; the things we’d wished we’d said and the desperation. It’s essentially saying, ‘I know that I agreed we’d go our separate ways, but I was speaking opposites; I don’t want this… what am I without you?’”
