Jade Emperor has returned with her second single ‘Greener’. Inspired by Etta James, Nina Simone and Ella Fitzgerald, the song focuses on the brighter side of life, imploring the listener to pour water on their own side of life and watch it grow, rather than always thinking it’s greener on the other side.
Musically, Greener has this drop dead gorgeous jazz / R&B thing going on, with Jade’s vocal poured over the top, added to the back vocals which appear all over the changes. The strokes of guitar and warm bassline give it this hazy feel, and if you can resist that chorus, your better people than us.
