Jet frontman Nic Cester has stepped into unexpected territory, teaming up with Måneskin guitarist Thomas Raggi and Rage Against The Machine icon Tom Morello for the electrifying new single ‘Getcha!’, the lead track from Raggi’s debut album Masquerade, out now. The song arrives with serious pedigree: originally sparked during a writing session with Beck, ‘Getcha!’ also features Red Hot Chili Peppers powerhouse Chad Smith behind the kit, with Cester adding lyrics and vocals that push him well beyond his usual rock’n’roll comfort zone.
“This was such a fun collaboration,” Cester says of the project, reflecting on the challenge of lending his voice to a distinctly different sonic world. “There were so many interesting and talented people involved… I was really happy to be involved!”
Cester joined Raggi onstage at LA’s legendary Whisky a Go Go late last week to debut the track live, unleashing ‘Getcha!’ in front of an audience packed with industry watchers and dedicated rock diehards. The release follows a busy run for Cester, who spent November touring Australia with Lenny Kravitz as part of the Blue Electric Light Tour — now stepping straight into an international collaboration stacked with alt-rock heavyweights.
