News: You Am I Frontman Tim Rogers Plots East Coast Solo Run Next March and April

Fresh from his recent induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Tim Rogers has unveiled his Le Charme Defensif tour, announcing a run of intimate solo shows set for March and April next year. The tour will see the You Am I frontman step into smaller rooms across the east coast, beginning in Melbourne on March 20 before moving through Old Bar, the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, Canberra, Gundaroo’s Tallagandra Hill Winery, Newcastle and Sydney, with the run concluding at the Milton Theatre on April 19.

Rogers frames the tour as a gentle challenge to expectation. “Le Charme Defensif a tour based around defying expectations. Once again, what you may consider pretentious, we just call aspirational. There shall be laughter, but no tears, as in these my autumnal gears. I just can’t afford to lose the moisture,” he says, offering a typically wry reflection on the shows to come.

With a three-decade career spanning more than 20 albums, 10 ARIA Awards, celebrated work across film, television and theatre, and a catalogue of writing that has made him one of Australia’s most distinctive songwriters, Rogers continues to carve out a rare space in Australian music. These close-quarters performances promise the sharp wit, emotional nuance and idiosyncratic charm that have defined his work since You Am I first lit up the national stage.
