Track: Jyoti reveals the bubbling jazz of Mama, You Can Bet!

Georgia Anne Muldrow in her solo jazz Jyoti guise, has just released the title track to her forthcoming album, ‘Mama, You Can Bet!’, out on August 28th via eOne and Muldrow’s own SomeOthaShip Connect. The record is dedicated To her mother, who herself was a musician, part of the Pharoah Sanders Ensemble, Sir Roland Hanna’s New York Jazz Quartet, and also founder of the Agape International Choir. “I wanted my mother to know that she deserves passionate love, that I see her as a beautiful woman”, says Georgia Anne.

Mama, Can You Bet! shuffles and shimmy’s throughout, changing tact and direction here and there, but always driven by this bubbling percussion and hypnotic bass, while static organ lines and wonky piano compete with the gospel like chorus line for attention in this delicious slice of spiritual jazz. Over the top comes Muldrow’s heavy soul vocals, demanding attention.
