Musical collaborations have always been a thing in music, but now more and more artists, have commercial tie-ins with major clothing, sportswear and drink brands. Terrorvision sang about it in the 90’s and now Brummie rapper and producer Mike Skinner—of genre-defining and multi-award-winning The Streets— has joined forces with 1800 Tequila, who have just revealed the video for exclusive new collaboration track, ‘Turn Your Face Into The Sun’.

‘Turn Your Face Into The Sun’ speaks to the attitude behind every luminary: the innate instinct to turn your face into the sun so that the shadows are behind you, to push ever forward into new creative territories and modes of artistic expression. The lyrics are paired with The Streets classic style and flow, allowing listeners to immerse themselves in Skinner’s renowned lyricism over a hypnotic beat.

Commenting on the song, Skinner said: “I made this song while I was putting the finishing touches to my new album and film The Darker The Shadow The Brighter The Light. I like the fact that 1800 focus on craft and that the creative that we’re working on together, the song and the bottle, feel unique and intentional. They have always worked with forward thinking artists and collaborators – I’m glad to be up next.”

To celebrate the collaboration between 1800 Tequila and Mike Skinner, the brand is hosting an exclusive event on Friday 29th September in the tantalisingly intimate confines of 180 capacity venue Kachette in Shoreditch, London. Guests will experience a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be part of this one-off DJ set by Mike Skinner where he will play his exclusive new track and unveil his 1800 x Mike Skinner limited-edition bottle available to buy in October.

Fans will be able to get their hands on alimited number of ticketsreleased online for just £10 at 9am on the 18th of September.  Additional tickets will be available on a first-come first-served basis on the night by signing up to the online guest list.

All tickets will include an 1800 Tequila cocktail on entry. Cocktails will include the Paloma and Margarita, Tequila and tonics, and for one-night only, an exclusively mixed Mike Skinner cocktail inspired by the lyrics of his new track.

An exclusive new track championing optimism and creativity in collaboration with 1800, the world’s most awarded tequila, the song was written and produced by Skinner to celebrate independent thinkers like himself.
Skinner is the latest artist to join forces with 1800 Tequila as part of its Essential Artists campaign that looks to champion creatives, culture, independent thinkers, and artists, with past collaborations including Kojey Radical and Daniel Cordas. As a leader in UK garage music and street culture, as well as a huge supporter of fellow creatives, Mike Skinner’s vision and ambitions are shared by the brand and captured in the essence of the song.

Available on all streaming services, the track is out now ahead of The Streets’ hotly anticipated new album and film, The Darker The Shadow The Brighter The Light which is set for release on 20th October 2023, and will be The Streets’ first album in over a decade.
