See: Savages reveal new live film for ‘Fuckers’

Almost a year ago to the day I got my hands on a debut album that in my view was absolutely flawless. Packed full of post-punk finery and delivered with an intensity and depth that made it stand out head and shoulders above the rest. I wasn’t alone in my view, in fact in our end of year review, the Backseat Mafia mobsters voted it our album of the year – as did many other publications.

We are of course talking about the Savages debut album, ‘Silence Yourself’.

But no matter how great an album may be for a band to be truly great they need to back up the studio output with at least an equal live performance. This is where Savages excel. The album is great, their live shows greater still. I saw many great gigs last year and heard many great albums but I can honestly say, listening to ‘Silence Yourself’ and seeing Savages live were two of the highlights of the year.

To celebrate the 12 months since the release of the album Savages have released ‘Fuckers/Dream Baby Dream’ as a 12” alongside a Giorgio Testi-directed video for “Fuckers”, filmed live at the London Forum show on 6th November.

Previously unavailable ‘Fuckers’ alongside the cover version of Suicides ‘Dream Baby Dream’ have featured heavily in Savages live shows. The video does a great job of capturing these songs delivered with the intensity that Savages have become renowned for.

For a deeper insight into what the last 12 months have been like, have a look at the article that lead singer Jenny Beth has written for Huffington post.
