J Hubner

306 posts
Born in the bosom of the Midwest, USA, J Hubner grew up in a woods next to a cornfield that was just a throwing distance to a lake. Music has been a constant in J Hubner's life since he was a little kid soundtracking epic battles with Star Wars action figures with his older brother's Deep Purple, Megadeth, and W.A.S.P. cassettes. He started playing guitar at 12 and since 2006 has self-released 10 albums under the names Goodbyewave, Sunnydaymassacre, Dream District, and J. Hubner. Three years ago J Hubner began writing about music independently. Album reviews, artist interviews, and general musings on his love of music. He writes at www.jhubner73.com, www.backseatmafia.com, and several smaller musical publications. J Hubner is married with three kids and a miniature schnauzer named Otto. He still resides in the Midwest, USA. Near that same lake.

Not Forgotten: Wilco’s A Ghost Is Born Ten Years Later

  • June 25, 2014
  • J Hubner
I don’t think there’s a more divisive Wilco record than A Ghost Is Born(maybe Wilco(The Album)). It was a record filled with claustrophobic silence, whispered musical intentions, and the sound of numbed…

Album Review : Alex Calder – Strange Dreams

  • June 3, 2014
  • J Hubner
The title of Alex Calder’s newest album couldn’t be more accurate. Listening to Strange Dreams is indeed like having a strange dream. The music wobbles and shimmers. It hops along like a…

Album Review : The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart :: Days Of Abandon

  • June 2, 2014
  • J Hubner
There has been a gradual move for New York City’s The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart; from a rough-around-the-edges sound on their debut to something resembling a sunny 80s…

Hello. It’s good to be back from my mission to the fourth realm of Garzan. It was a rough flight, flying through the Araucaria Fire, just past the Eastman Oyster…
