Oklahoma City rapper Jabee has shared a new single from his forth-coming album, This World Is So Fragile and Cruel I’m Glad I Got You. The video for the song, “No Allegiance,” is a meditative reflection on life and love and loss, and the artist says in a press release that its contemplative tone and style were inspired by the late Los Angeles rhyme artist, Nipsey Hussle. The video was filmed in an empty pizza restaurant and in it, Jabee contemplates Nipsey’s legacy and his importance to the community from which he came. The song is aspirational, introduced by a simple piano melody, and Jabee adopts a conversational flow as he rides over the mournful music.

Later this year, Jabee will release his new album, which includes contributions from Lil B ThaBasedGod, Slug of Atmosphere, Statik Selektah, Wale, S1 and 88 Keys. Jabee has released three other projects, 2008’s Blood Is The New Black, Everything Was Beautiful And Nothing Hurt in 2013, and 2016’s Black Future, which included a collaboration with Chuck D, of Public Enemy. In 2019, Jabee also dropped an EP with producer Thelonious Martin, Thy Will Be Done. “No Allegiance,” follows up another single from The World Is So Fragile and I’m Glad I Got You, “ChecMate,” which includes guest verses from Slug and Lil B and production from Statik Selektah. Jabee previously collaborated with Statik Selektah on “Exhausted,” a single from Black Future. “He ain’t Common,” he’s Jabee. Check it!
