Exclusive: Monokino records Bend or Break live for Backseat Mafia in an At Home Sessions

Dutch composer George van Wetering has been releaseing doses of his odd-ball pop for a while now under the moniker of Monokino, and we were struck by the brilliant ‘Bend or Break‘ he brought out at the end of last month.

He’s worked with the likes of Tony Visconti and Kristee Young as well as fellow Dutch artist/producer Jacco Gardner, and that collaborative nature led to a partnership with British musician Danny Maguire as part of the Dutch Embassy’s ‘Connecting North Sea Neighbours’ project, which brought about Bend or Break in the first place.

Of the track, George says “Bend or Break is about a friend who says all year round how bad things are in the world and with humanity and with himself but at the end of the year says that 2020 has never been such a good year for him personally.” When faced with conflicting opinions and clashes of personality, sometimes “it’s easier to oppose it and to let go of some friendships” he adds.

We persuaded Monokino to record Bend or Break for one of our At Home Sessions, and we’re delighted he brought his wit and oddball outlook to the recording as well. Check it out here, and PLEASE subscribe, like, comment and share, so we can continue to bring you the best of upcoming and established talent in session.
