Grimmfest takes place in Manchester every October and has cemented itself on the UK horror film festival calendar. Given the current ‘situation’, things have been a little different over the last year. However, whilst most of us are stuck indoors with little to do, they’ve decided to launch something a little special. Grimmfest Easter Horror Nights will take place at the beginning of April, bringing fresh new genre cinema to your living room. #

Here are just a few of the great films on offer:

Clapboard Jungle

Following five years in the life and career of independent filmmaker Justin McConnell (Lifechanger), this documentary explores the struggles of financing, attracting the right talent, working with practical effects and selling the finished product in the hope of turning a profit.

The Barcelona Vampire

Barcelona at the start of the twentieth century sees two cities living alongside one another. The first, bourgeois and modernist, the other filthy and sordid. When Teresa Guitart, the young daughter of a rich family, goes missing, the news sends shockwaves through the whole country. The police soon have a suspect: Enriqueta Marti, a woman who’s also known as “The Barcelona Vampiress”.

Rendez-Vous

When Lili and Eduardo meet up after connecting online, their first date takes an unexpected and terrifying turn as the evening progresses.

The Night

After a night out with friends, an exhausted married couple, Babak (Shahab Hosseini), Neda (Niousha Noor) and their baby take shelter in the grand, but eerie Hotel Normandie. Throughout a seemingly endless night, mysterious disturbances ruin their night’s rest as Babak and Neda soon realize they’re locked-in with a malevolent force that hungers for the dark secrets they’ve kept from one another.

Threshold

After joining a cult, Virginia (Madison West) believes herself to be possessed and somehow bonded to a complete stranger. Estranged from her family after years of drug addiction, she confides to her brother Leo (Joey Millin) who reluctantly agrees to take her on a cross-country road trip to find the man and escape the curse.
