Two decades on from the release of Ocean Avenue — the record that launched a thousand skatepark anthems — Yellowcard are back on Australian soil, bringing their landmark album to life with the energy and emotion that first made it a classic. The Jacksonville alt-rockers were forced to reschedule and relocate due to illness, but the crowd packed into Liberty Hall on 15 April 2025 couldn’t have cared less — they were just thrilled to see the band back in action.
Formed in 1997, Yellowcard carved out a unique spot in the alt-rock and pop-punk canon with their violin-laced hooks and emotionally charged songwriting. But it was 2003’s Ocean Avenue — armed with timeless tracks like “Way Away,” “Only One,” and the title track itself — that pushed them into the mainstream and helped shape the sound of the early 2000s.
