Live Music: The Gathering Sounds Preview

Back for a 5th year, The Gathering Sounds has assembled a stellar line up for this weekend’s festival in Stockton. Spread across 6 venues in the town, some of the UK’s hottest new talent is on show across the day.

Mainstage headliner and local boy Andrew Cushin is certainly one to catch, having spent the summer in the US and on festival stages across the UK. His indie singer-songwriter style has been catching attention, and is a must for fans of Noel Gallagher and Sam Fender.

Other local talent includes the brilliant Komparrison, headlining The Georgian Theatre. A ton of energy, with influences from britpop along with Lily Allen, they’re not shy of confronting more taboo subjects in their music, but tinged with their sense of humour.

It’s not just the North East on show here though. Manchester’s Rolla will bring their Oasis-influenced rock to the This Feeling Storytellers stage, and kicking things off at that venue are Hertfordshire’s Lock-In, who are well worth getting down early for.

The Clause (see main picture from this year’s Bingley Festival) will also be on show, and again, should be high on your list of priorities if you’re heading to the North East for this one. If you’re after a steady stream of indie-rock bangers then make sure you’re at the KU stage at 8.45pm.

With tickets just over £20, this is an absolute steal to catch some of the next wave of UK music on its way up. It all kicks off at 2pm tomorrow, 30th September in Stockton.
