Live Review – David Gray – Symphony Hall, Birmingham 1/4/2025

David Gray brought his ‘Past and Present’ tour to the iconic Birmingham Symphony Hall on April 1st alongside album mate and up and coming star Talia Rae.

Opening the show for David across the whole tour is London talent, who also duets with David on latest single ‘Plus and Minus’ and her voice works perfectly alongside Davids warm vocals.

Talia came back out during Davids set and sung along him to the aforementioned ‘Plus and Minus’ and ‘Fighting Talk’

Talia has star potential and these shows show that she is more than capable performing on sold out tours in big venues.

David Gray is a work horse, this stop in Birmingham is part of a mammoth 52 date tour, in support of his latest album release, album number 13! ‘Dear Life’ which had been delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic David tells us from behind his trade mark keyboard.

The pandemic gave David chance to write and helped shape the direction of the album and the results are spectacular with the songs from ‘Dear Life’ blending perfectly into a set list built up from his extended back catalogue.

The biggest singalongs came from songs from Davids biggest album, ‘White Ladder’ which is scary to think came out in 1998 and was his 4th album!

The crowds definitely got their moneys worth from David tonight who played for nearly two hours, and his slickness as a showman was truly on show for all, and its no surprise that he has enjoyed a career for over 30 years because he is truly a star.

There is limited tickets left to catch David Gray on tour, so be sure to pick up tickets if a show is nearby and has yet to sell out!
