Following ‘Spotlight’, ‘Wounded Healer’ and ‘Stargazer’, ‘In The Smoke’ finds Stellar Circuits exploring the uneasy territory between clarity and obsession. Built around crushing riffs, shifting dynamics and moments of restrained tension, the song examines failure, surrender and the gradual loss of perspective, balancing technical precision with an atmosphere that is both immersive and deeply personal.
The release builds on the momentum of 2025’s Phantom :: Phoenix, an album that marked another significant step forward for the band. Across tracks including ‘I See Your Spirit’, ‘Corridor’ and ‘Bury The Ashes’, Stellar Circuits fused progressive complexity with cinematic textures and introspective lyricism, exploring themes of perseverance, rebirth and self-discovery while retaining the weight and intensity that has become central to their identity.
Since then, the Virginia-based group have maintained a relentless creative pace. Rather than repeating familiar formulas, each new standalone release has subtly broadened their sonic palette, demonstrating a willingness to push beyond conventional progressive metal while remaining anchored by powerful melodies and dynamic arrangements.
Since signing with Nuclear Blast and releasing their acclaimed 2023 album Sight To Sound, Stellar Circuits have steadily established themselves among the genre’s most compelling modern acts. Extensive touring alongside artists including Chevelle and Arch Echo has further strengthened their reputation, with live performances that match technical precision with emotional impact.
With ‘In The Smoke’, Stellar Circuits continue that trajectory, delivering another thoughtful and finely constructed addition to a catalogue that consistently finds new ways to balance heaviness with vulnerability.
