Live Review: Marmozets – Brudenell Social Club, Leeds. 23.01.26

After a hiatus of 7 years, Bingley rockers Marmozets returned with a bang, dropping their new record A Kiss From A Mother at the end of 2025. It marked the beginning of a triumphant return, which led to this tour, tonight hitting the hallowed stage of Leeds’ Brudenell Social Club.

“It’s always been a dream of ours to play on this stage” lead singer Becca Bottomley shares with the crowd. It’s a familiar refrain within these 4 walls, the venue’s folklore writ large into the musical history of this city. “It’s an absolute privilege.”

It’s a long-awaited return, something alluded to by the excellent support band, Keighley’s Goo, who play an electric set to get the room nicely warmed up for the main event. The crowd are psyched through the end of that support set and are fired up for the return of Becca, her husband Jack and her two brothers, Sam and Josh Macintyre.

It’s always been a family affair, from when the band formed at school, and you can see the history, the longevity in the tightness of their performance. Back in the driving seat, Becca launches herself around the stage, high kicking, leaning out over the crowd and before long the room, already warm, was on fire to the explosive energy of a band clearly overjoyed to be tearing up rooms like this again.

The 15 song set drew heavily from their first 2 albums, something that the crowd were fully on board with, as Play from their 2018 record Knowing What You Do Now opened up the first ferocious mosh pit of the night. By the time we hit Particle and You Want The Truth we had crowd surfers reaching the stage before launching themselves back into the fray. “Is that guy OK?” asks Sam, seeing him upended and sucked into the vortex beneath. “That was sick!”

The band are no less energetic, Sam taking his bass for a ride across the outstretched arms in the crowd before being deposited safely back on stage. Becca is a perpetual ball of energy, powerful, intense and commanding, the grit and growl of her voice still very much in evidence as she roars through the set.

It peaks as they tear into Major System Error, maybe a dozen fans now hoisted on raised arms as the chaos envelops the entire floor, threatening to take the roof off the place. There’s no doubt about it. Marmozets are back, and like they’ve never been away. Power, electricity, barely controlled mayhem in its purest form.
