Live Review: Modernlove / DeCarteret – Workman’s Club Cellar, Dublin 5.11.2021, plus gallery

What better than on a cold November night, to warm yourself up at a sold out new venue, with a couple of brilliant Irish bands on the bill for good measure. Opening act DeCarteret did their bit, dragging the crowd along with their funky, indie jams in the newly opened (and rather good) Dublin Workman’s Club Cellar venue

Drogheda, Ireland Four piece pop/rock band Modernlove then took to that stage of the newly opened Dublin Workmans Club Cellar venue. Having only recently played Live at Leeds at Nation of Shopkeepers back in October, the band are soon to play London at The Social on the 11th and a hometown gig Drogheda’s Prop Room, at the TLT on the 20th. Following on its a support for for the Somebody’s Child sold out Button Factory gig on the 26th.

Mordernlove opened up their set with track ‘Us’ to a fantastic reaction by the crowd , and a few songs in they hit into the single ‘2 Missed Calls’, released back in September and the crowd just lapped it up. As the night went on the small and tight new venue got hot and sweaty as they guys ripped through their collection of smart, effervescent tracks including single ‘LMK’, finishing out the night with ‘Liquorice’ another single from earlier this year.
