Siobhan Miller arrived at the Greystones at the end of a warm spring weekend in Sheffield as part of her Anglo/Scottish tour; see LIVE | Siobhan Miller. What could be better on a Sunday evening than a couple of locally produced cold beers and some great imported Live music!
The packed ‘BacKroom’ needed no warming up and was instantly immersed in what would be a couple of hours of pure musical escapism. Multi award winning folk singer / songwriter Siobhan was accompanied by the excellent Innes White [guitar] and hugely talented Charlie Stewart [violin]; who are immaculate in their presentation of what is a mix of traditional covers, newly written material plus tracks from Siobhan’s back catalogue. Included are acoustic tracks from her fourth solo album ‘All is not forgotten’ [released 2020], ‘What you do with what you’ve got’ from 2017 album Strata, which could be familiar from plays on Radio 2.
Their rich heritage in Scottish folk music culture with appearances both on national tv as well as small festivals on and off the mainland; makes for an evening steeped in authenticity. Siobhan shows a genuine warmth and appreciation in her interaction with the audience, which is reciprocated in the participation on choruses on songs like While The Whole World Sleeps, which was moving and unusually harmonious for a BacKroom crowd.
