The Rosendal Garden Party, held from June 13-15th at Djurgården, Stockholm, offered a blend of music, culture, and community set against the picturesque backdrop of the Royal National City Park. Each day featured a diverse lineup of world-class artists, promising unique experiences and performances.

Day 1: Day one commenced with artists like Femme Fatale Selection, Turnstile and M.I.A among others, setting the tone for the first day that resonated with the crowd. Turnstile, an American punk band, brought energy whilst effortlessly collaborating on stage and putting on a great show.

M.I.A’s colourful and vibrant performance was a nice way to end the first day. Her set was filled with beautiful visuals that tied together the performance. Ending her set with the well-known “Paper Planes” left the audience dancing and singing along. M.I.A. was a great way to end the first night on a high note.

Day 2: Day two started with the dynamic presence of Swedish artist Yaeger, whose infectious energy and standout tracks like “Devil Mode” and “Stolen” set a high bar for the day. Yaeger is an up and coming artist that really kickstarted the day. With a cool unique look and sound, Yaeger was singing and dancing like a pro on stage with dance friendly songs that got the audience engaged from the start.

Nia Archives followed with a compelling DJ set, blending genres and rhythms that kept the audience engaged and moving. I had never heard of Nia Archives before, but I was pleasantly surprised. The audience was dancing and smiling, and the DJ was doing the same. The energy throughout her set was high, and it put everybody in great spirits. Saint Levant was a nice discovery for me at the Rosendal Garden Party. His music blends traditional Arabic, R&B, and hip-hop, reflecting his diverse heritage and the Palestinian struggle. His multilingual songs have gained international acclaim. At his show, Saint Levant captivated a supportive audience, adorned with Palestinian flags and scarves, with his confident stage presence and delivery.

After Saint Levant, it was time for Raye to take the stage. Raye was a highly anticipated act, with her unique sound and rising popularity. She appeared in a red dress with a classic look against a white stage setup that tied the visuals together perfectly. Singing raw emotional songs as well as upbeat dance tracks, Raye delivered an exciting performance that captivated the audience throughout. Her vocals were powerful, affirming her bright future in music.

Massive Attack’s atmospheric performance amidst rain underscored their impactful visuals and politically charged messages, leaving a profound impression. The concert featured interesting and cool visuals that tied the performance together, with talented musicians creating an experience beyond the ordinary. Even as it rained, the audience remained in the moment, enjoying the show thoroughly. “Teardrop,” performed with Elizabeth Fraser, was a standout moment and one of many highlights.

Day 3: The final day featured iconic performances by The Cardigans and Grace Jones, among some other acts like The Heavy and BCUC. The Cardigans delighted fans with nostalgic favourites like “Lovefool” and “My Favourite Game,” showcasing their timeless appeal and effortless stage presence.

Grace Jones concluded the festival with spectacular showmanship, entering in distinctive costumes and delivering a mix of humour, powerful vocals, and theatrical flair. Her performance, including standout moments like playing cymbals with fierce energy and engaging the audience with her infectious enthusiasm, solidified her status as a legendary performer.

One of many special moments was when Grace Jones sang ‘Amazing Grace’, which was really emotional and sung beautifully. Looking around, several audience members shed a tear or two.
In summary, Rosendal Garden Party was a celebration of diversity, music, and culture. Each day offered memorable performances that resonated with the audience, blending new discoveries together with established icons.
