Track: Lushes – Low Hanging Fruit

After their debut album, What Am I Doing, caused some fawning and admiration in almost equal parts, Brooklyn duo Lushes moved on and are back with album number two. Titles Service Industry, it drops on October 16th via Felte, and from it the band have released a new song, Low Hanging Fruit.

Equally muscular and wonky, longtime Sonic Youth engineer Aaron Mullan, with whom the band worked with on, influence is clear. Its unsettling to the point of eerie, as the chanted vocals give it a sense of witchcraft, while the banshee like holler of the guitar that sweeps over the top reinforces it. Somehow though, it plays with your emotions, pulling you in, its lyrical content, the boredom and monotony of modern life, ringing somehow true.
