News: Cenobia unveils ‘Swallowed By The World’

Sydney artist Cenobia is taking another significant step out of the shadows, signing a worldwide deal with Fearless Records and announcing her new EP ‘Lethal Devotion’, due September 18.

The signing arrives alongside new single ‘Swallowed By The World’, the fourth chapter in a project that has increasingly blurred the boundaries between modern metal, visual storytelling and carefully constructed mythology.

Cenobia first appeared in 2025 with debut single ‘Devour Me’, followed by ‘Throne of Want’ and ‘Make Us Whole Again’. Rather than placing the person behind the music at the centre of the project, she has built an expanding world around it, drawing heavily on video games, cryptic ciphers and narrative-driven videos. The secrecy surrounding Cenobia became convincing enough to fuel online speculation about whether she was even a real artist or an AI creation.

She is very much real, and ‘Swallowed By The World’ pushes the musical side of that mythology further into focus. Built around escalating riffs, haunting melodic passages and substantial breakdowns, the track moves through themes of obsession, internal conflict, trauma and rebirth.

Cenobia describes the track as both an ending and a beginning within the wider story: “Devoured whole. A fractured rebirth. She was swallowed by the world, forged in trauma. Her quest to be made whole again draws to an end. Now, her divine awakening is upon us.”

The Fearless Records deal gives Cenobia an international platform at a point when the project is also becoming increasingly visible in the Australian heavy scene. Her songs have already accumulated millions of streams and views, while the community surrounding the project, known as “Her Collective”, has grown alongside each new chapter.

Backseat Mafia recently caught Cenobia supporting Plini, providing a chance to see how this carefully constructed world translates beyond the screen. In the live setting, the ciphers and online mythology take a back seat to the physical weight of the music, revealing an artist capable of carrying the project’s darker atmosphere onto the stage.

That live momentum will continue when Cenobia joins Northlane on their Anemoia Australian tour this November, putting her in front of another sizeable heavy music audience.
