News: Deerhoof Announce Australian Tour

This June, Deerhoof will return to Australia for the first time in over 10 years in support of their new album, ‘Miracle Level.’ The nineteenth release in a 30 year history, and their first sung entirely in Japanese, “Miracle-Level” is Deerhoof’s mystical manifesto on creativity and trust, its answer to the artificial industries of deception, coercion, and boredom we’re forced to put up with.

The band spent five days recording the album at No Fun Club in Winnipeg, Manitoba, with sound engineer and producer, Mike Bridavsky, and several more days mixing. ‘Miracle Level’ is an avant-garde, anti-fascist carnival, its spicy surprises whispered conspiratorially, and lit by candlelight. A turn in the road from Deerhoof’s usual recording process, being the first album recorded and mixed in a professional studio, but a welcome one at that.

Deerhoof emerged from the San Francisco Bay Area’s vibrant music scene in 1994. Originally formed as a duo by Rob Fisk and Greg Saunier, the band underwent several lineup changes before solidifying with Satomi Matsuzaki on vocals and bass, and John Dieterich on guitar. Over the years, Deerhoof has become renowned for their inventive and unpredictable sound, blending elements of noise rock, avant-garde jazz, and experimental pop. With a prolific output, they have released numerous albums that showcase their ability to constantly reinvent themselves while maintaining a distinct, playful energy. Their live performances are celebrated for their frenetic intensity and whimsical charm.
