I DON’T NEED TO HIDE // SINGLE

UK DATES // OCTOBER 2022

DMA’S have shared their new single, I DON’T NEED TO HIDE, alongside a captivating video directed by Lucy Knox. You can watch the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUXtVwANJFU

DMA’S new material arrives as their first since last year’s celebrated I Love You Unconditionally, Sure Am Going To Miss You EP which, in turn, followed the band’s highest charting album to date, The Glow (UK Official Albums Chart #4; Scotland #2; ARIA #2).

Listening to the new single (produced by Konstantin Kersting and Rich Costey) reveals an immediate and palpable sense of relief, as if a long-held tension has finally come to an end. With I DON’T NEED TO HIDE, celebration and evolution is in the air.Over the course of three studio albums to date, DMA’S have found an iconic, mythical status among their fanbase – 65,000 ticket sale on their last UK tour alone shows the open-armed response they elicit on international shores. Their world is one of acceptance, freedom of expression, collective highs, and each twist and turn in their journey to this point has led them to what is a landmark single release for the band. I DON’T NEED TO HIDE represents the comfort in being embraced but, more than that, it exemplifies the biggest talent that DMA’S possess: the ability to distil the wrenches of their personal stories into anthemic universal experiences.

Guitarist Johnny Took comments: “There’s a confidence you obtain when you find someone who loves you for all your faults, quirks and obscurities. They make you feel like you don’t need to hide anything from anyone anymore.”

The video for the single goes one step further in capturing the unbridled euphoria of what it is to enter DMA’S world, and the communal thrill that their music brings to the live arena. It’s the feeling of emerging from a darker place, and the exhilarating future sound of a band without barriers at the top of their game.

I DON’T NEED TO HIDE is released on the heels of several large live music returns for DMA’S. Following their biggest ever Australian headline tour earlier this year, the band’s recent UK headline tour saw them sell out London Alexandra Palace and play to huge crowds this summer at TRNSMT Festival. Later this month, the band will take to the main stage at the Reading and Leeds Festivals, then continue to play festivals and headline dates throughout Australia – including a huge support with Arctic Monkeys in Sydney – before returning to the UK in October for a run of headline dates.

Irish based concert photographer, maybe! ever so slightly addicted to gigs. Listens mostly to alternative / goth / folk punk / punk / ska. I blame the 80s.
