Few bands have left a mark on 21st century rock quite like Evanescence. More than two decades after Fallen transformed Amy Lee and company into global stars, the group are set to return to Australia and New Zealand in March 2027 for a run of headline arena shows celebrating both their storied past and the arrival of new album Sanctuary.
Beginning in Perth before heading through Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, the tour will conclude with a New Zealand date at Auckland’s Spark Arena. The shows promise to trace the band’s remarkable journey, from the era-defining singles that made Fallen one of the century’s biggest debut albums through to recent material including global hits ‘Afterlife’ and ‘Who Will You Follow’.
Australian fans last saw Evanescence in late 2025 when the band joined Metallica’s M72 World Tour as special guests. Away from the stadiums, they also treated audiences to intimate side shows, including a memorable appearance at Sydney’s Metro Theatre that Backseat Mafia was fortunate enough to witness. The contrast between those smaller performances and the cavernous arenas of the Metallica tour only reinforced the enduring appeal of a band equally capable of commanding clubs and stadiums.
Since first breaking through with classics such as ‘Bring Me to Life’, ‘Going Under’ and ‘My Immortal’, Evanescence have remained one of rock’s most enduring acts. The Open Door further cemented their standing, while recent years have brought a fresh wave of success. In 2025, the band scored their first Billboard Mainstream Rock Airplay number one with ‘Afterlife’, written for Netflix’s Devil May Cry. Amy Lee also enjoyed another chart-topper with ‘End of You’, her collaboration with Poppy and Spiritbox’s Courtney LaPlante, while Evanescence contributed music alongside K.Flay and Halsey to Ballerina, the latest chapter in the John Wick universe.
With Sanctuary now added to their catalogue, the 2027 arena run offers fans the chance to experience Evanescence on their own terms once more. More than twenty years after Fallen, the emotional weight, gothic grandeur and unmistakable voice of Amy Lee continue to resonate with audiences around the world.
