News: Jaylon Shines On New EP ‘Baby Boy’

Jaylon releases the vibrant new EP Baby Boy, connecting Lagos roots, Bristol life, and the global dancefloor, the EP brings a colourful blend of Arfobeats and R&B.

Blending sun-drenched melodies with danceable beats, soulful hooks and a warming soundpalet, the Nigerian-born, Bristol-based producer Jaylon captures the spirit of movement, memory, and modern Afro R&B. The six-track offers a personal and cultural archive wrapped in a rich instrumental arrangement of elegant guitar work, dreamy synths and some brilliantly worked collaborations.

From the opening track ‘Stay Ok’ featuring Azanti to the smooth closer ‘4DW’ with Frayz, Baby Boy carries the buoyant feel of a lazy summer day with an undercurrent of melancholic late-night reflections. The project is steeped in Afro-fusion, but Jaylon takes it further—pulling in textures of soul, dancehall, and pop, all delivered with minimalist precision and warmth.

“Baby Boy is where I let myself explore joy,” Jaylon says. “It’s nostalgic, but still fresh—happy chords, chill vibes, and beats that move you without overwhelming. It’s a soundscape of who I am.”

Already known for his work with artists like Mr Eazi, DJ Tunez, and PsychoYP, Jaylon has spent years shaping the Afro R&B landscape from behind the scenes. But with Baby Boy, he steps confidently into his own light, offering a cohesive and joyful body of work that announces him as a singular creative force.
As much as it nods to where he’s been, Baby Boy is really about where Jaylon’s going. Smooth, soulful, and despite its chilled, emotive feel, the EP is brilliantly commercial and danceable.
