The American-born and Paris-based Julia Gaeta released her debut single ‘Weight of You’ in 2022, and it was promising enough that we wondered when she’d be back with something more substantive; that something is finally here, in the form of her debut EP. Its title track is full of intensity and soaring drama, and Gaeta has shared a video for it to coincide with release.
Breaking down the themes of the five-song EP, Gaeta says that it ‘explores the collective themes about freeing oneself from burdensome emotional shackles. It’s for anyone who has ever felt trapped, confused or entangled in love, to the point where you’re questioning everything. At some point, the less dystopian option is learning to unlove and breaking everything down, only to build it up stronger again within yourself. It’s a tale as old as time, but never becomes less poignant, and it keeps evolving as our society changes.”
The David Fitt-directed and produced video, as well as the Blur Divine EP itself, are out now.
