News: Kaxi Returns With Anthemic New Single ‘Torture’ After Two-Year Hiatus

Following a two-year hiatus, Indian-born, London-based artist Kaxi has returned with his powerful new single Torture, a bold reintroduction that reaffirms his place in the alternative music landscape. The track, released in early July 2025, is his first since 2023’s DROWN and marks a turning point in the emerging artist’s musical journey.

Co-produced by Andy Strange, known for his work with Robbie Williams and Paolo Nutini, and Inlovewtheart of creative collective Jska, Torture is a sonically rich track blending gritty guitar textures with cinematic, reverb-heavy vocals. The result is a warped yet immersive soundscape that draws from indie, alt-pop, shoegaze, and subtle R&B influences.

Kaxi explains: “‘Torture’ isn’t just a single; it’s the start of something deeper. A reminder that vulnerability sounds powerful, this track is about owning your pain and finding freedom. It’s ugly, it’s beautiful – just like growth.”

The song explores the emotional complexities of self-liberation, layering raw emotion over funk-inflected guitar grooves and dynamic shifts. With its distinct style and genre-blending production, Torture aims to establish Kaxi as a truly original voice in the global music scene.

Kaxi, who began creating music at the age of twelve, is entirely self-taught and driven by a commitment to emotional authenticity. To date, he has garnered over twenty million streams across platforms and landed on Spotify’s ‘India Viral 50’ playlist. Currently studying for a BA in Music Technology at the London College of Music, he continues to refine his craft with a steady stream of releases expected in the coming year.
