News: NYC-Based Why Another Return with ‘Hold On Tight’

NYC-based band Why Another have returned with their new single, ‘Hold On Tight’, a dark indie-rock exploration of the emotional turbulence shaped by a messy and unpredictable world.

The new single captures a rare facet of human experience: the uneasy acceptance that not all chaos can be resolved or controlled. At its heart, ‘Hold On Tight’ challenges listeners to find balance and quiet hope amid life’s relentless pace.

Opening with a bold, groove-driven energy and an arresting guitar riff, ‘Hold On Tight’ immediately draws listeners into a world of tension and uncertainty. As the song unfolds, it shifts rhythmically and emotionally, moving from external panic to internal clarity. The result is both intimate and cinematic, a cathartic anthem about letting go when everything feels like it’s falling apart.

The track was written to showcase each band member’s strengths, thriving on dynamic interplay and live chemistry. Produced by Adi Malka, Franky Gonzalez, Jordan Howard Kerr, Yong Yoon Kim, and Pietro Gennenzi, ‘Hold On Tight’ channels raw emotion into a powerful sonic release, a hallmark of Why Another’s evolving sound.

Accompanying the single is an animated short film that brings the song’s themes to life visually. The narrative follows a nameless character in free fall, initially panicked but gradually learning to accept the descent. Along the way, he encounters surreal objects and fleeting moments of fear and wonder. The animation draws inspiration from printmaking, with blown-out shapes shifting between abstraction and legibility, and flat colors overlapping in a mesmerizing, inky blur. Each frame acts as both a deep void and a flat surface, mirroring the character’s emotional journey.

As the character surrenders to the fall, chaos dissolves, revealing a sense of peace and acceptance. The film serves as a striking visual reflection of the song’s message: release, not control; surrender, not struggle. Together, the track and its animated companion offer a poignant exploration of finding calm amid life’s uncertainty.
