There are few acts operating quite like DOMi & JD BECK. Since emerging in 2018, the Grammy-nominated duo have dismantled expectations around contemporary jazz, fusing progressive improvisation with hip-hop, R&B, funk and electronic music in a way that feels as playful as it is technically astonishing. This November, the pair return to Australia for their first local shows since 2024, bringing their WHO ASKED? Tour to intimate venues across the East Coast.

The tour arrives in support of their newly released sophomore album, WHO ASKED?, issued via Anderson .Paak’s APESHIT label and Blue Note Records. Following the Grammy-nominated NOT TiGHT, the new record pushes even further beyond the duo’s already expansive sound, incorporating orchestral arrangements, vocal performances and increasingly adventurous compositions while maintaining the improvisational spark that has become their trademark.

Comprised of French keyboard virtuoso DOMi Louna and Texas drummer JD Beck, the duo have earned a reputation for performances that blur the line between precision and spontaneity. Their fearless musicianship has seen them reinterpret jazz standards, deconstruct hip-hop classics and collaborate with artists as varied as Anderson .Paak, Ariana Grande, Thundercat and Mac DeMarco, all while developing a musical language that is unmistakably their own.

Their rise has been equally unconventional. A wildly inventive NPR Tiny Desk Concert, now viewed by millions, introduced many listeners to their extraordinary chemistry, while television appearances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel Live! further cemented their reputation as one of contemporary music’s most exciting live propositions.

This November’s Australian run will see the duo perform at 170 Russell in Melbourne, Metro Theatre in Sydney and The Triffid in Brisbane. With theatre-sized venues replacing festival stages, audiences will have the opportunity to experience the pair’s remarkable interplay in close quarters, where every rhythmic twist and spontaneous musical detour can be fully appreciated.
