One Last Job, the folk-rock project spearheaded by frontman Travis Klein, has dropped the lead single ‘Beneath The Ocean’ from their new album ‘Been Here Ever Since’. The album, a labor of love recorded entirely by Klein while on the move between Austin, TX, and Las Vegas, NV, showcases a blend of intimate lyricism and diverse instrumentation.

‘Beneath The Ocean’ epitomizes the genre-blending prowess of One Last Job, incorporating elements of indie-folk, lo-fi, and bedroom pop. Klein’s creative process was as nomadic as his travels, with the track being crafted in his living room on a modest 2012 Macbook running Ableton 11. Despite the humble setup, the song exudes a pensive and slow-burn vibe, featuring a mix of acoustic and synthesized instrumentation.

Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘Beneath The Ocean’, Klein describes it as a reflection on gratitude and acceptance. He explains, “It’s a song about gratitude. About being dizzied by what it means to be truly grateful but attempting to accept the proposition anyway. It’s my favorite song on the album.”

‘Been Here Ever Since’ marks a significant musical journey for One Last Job, with influences ranging from Bright Eyes to Phoebe Bridgers evident throughout the twelve tracks. The album delves into themes of gratitude and acceptance, with Klein’s poignant storytelling weaving a cohesive narrative.

Recorded predominantly during jet-lagged Saturdays in Klein’s living room and fine-tuned from various hotels and Airbnb accommodations, ‘Been Here Ever Since'”‘ captures the essence of life on the move. The album represents a deeply personal exploration for Klein, who confronts existential questions about free will and acceptance throughout its duration.

With ‘Beneath The Ocean’ serving as the emotional climax of the album, One Last Job invites listeners to contemplate the nature of gratitude and relinquishing control. It’s a leap of faith that Klein is willing to take, as he navigates the complexities of self-discovery and introspection.

‘Been Here Ever Since’ is a testament to Klein’s artistry and versatility, showcasing his ability to craft emotive melodies and raw, honest lyrics. Each track offers a glimpse into his evolving perspective on life, culminating in a captivating musical experience that resonates with listeners on a profound level.

As One Last Job continues to captivate audiences with their unique blend of folk-rock, ‘Beneath The Ocean’ stands as a poignant reminder of the power of gratitude in an ever-changing world.

For fans eagerly anticipating the release of ‘Been Here Ever Since’, the lead single ‘Beneath The Ocean’ offers a tantalising glimpse into the sonic landscape that awaits.
