An intimate balance of glossy pop hooks with the quiet ache of insecurity, the track balances some heartfelt songwriting with infectious melodies to create a self-aware anthem for the chronic overthinkers.
At only 20, Claire has already carved out a space in the digital pop world with her confessional lyrics and catchy, emotionally-driven sound. She broke through the clutter with clips that felt like late-night diary entries set to melody—and ‘Selfish’ is a natural evolution of that voice. Raw, honest, and sonically tight, this track showcases Claire’s ability to translate inner monologue into universally felt moments.
“‘Selfish’ is about always thinking about yourself, but not in a positive or self-centered way,” says Claire. “It’s about being trapped in your own insecurities—worrying how you look, how you’re perceived, and wondering if you’re enough. It’s a conversation I know so many people are silently having with themselves every day.”
Originally scribbled in her notebook during a particularly rough patch of self-doubt, ‘Selfish’ eventually took shape through a six-month collaboration with producer/engineer James McLaughlin, who also performed live drums on the track. The final polish came from Grammy-nominated mastering engineer Joseph Carra.
